My Journey as an Artist

My Journey as an Artist

I have been drawing and painting since I can remember.   I have always been fascinated with the shape and color of people, objects and landscapes.  The way light makes an object appear and the form of things is truly an art form in itself.

I remember sitting at the kitchen table drawing my sister’s face.  In my art classes I formed clay into pottery.  Mixing paints to get the desired affect on a canvas was one the things my teachers taught me.  I also learned more about light and color from some of my favorite artists Monet and Van Gogh.

After high school I pursued a career not art related, I still kept painting and drawing.  I watched Bob Ross videos and bought several of his books, trying to get better at depth and perspective in my work.  I took classes at the local art museum.

About 10-15 years ago I went to a convention of super heroes of tv shows.  I met a man there who was selling his work he called digital drawings.  I talked with him a bit about how he did what he did.  He used a tablet or computer to make drawings using a stylus or pencil.  I was intrigued so I bought a stylus and downloaded an app on my tablet to see what I could do.  I was astounded! In my app procreate I could uses different forms as pencils and pastels and get the look of this type of medium.  I could use different paint techniques with a digital pencil.  I fell in love with it.

I hope the work I bring to everyone is something all can appreciate and enjoy, for I truly enjoy making it.
